Ane to Boin English Translation Port


Here's a game I've been working on for the last 5-6 months, after not having much progress with Nyuu Doukyuusei(those SQUEEZ folks really pushed the EAGLS engine to its limits) I decided I'd step down my ambition and take on a simpler game, the classic Ane to Boin by G.J? (Nyuu Doukyuusei is not abandoned, just nowhere near completion)

Albeit far from the best made by TechArts, this game will always have a special place in my heart as it's one of the first nukiges I ever played, still remembering how blown away I was by the character designs(Sano Toshihide was really ahead of his time with those milf drawings 😆) and enjoying the fun and quirky story.

Anyway, so the translation this time is a Ren'Py port of the original game. The reason I went with a port instead of a patch was mostly due to the old engine having stability issues on modern systems and of course the added benefits of using an engine that was actually designed with English language support and not having to mess with locale emulators and other such crap which apparently a lot of folks seem to have problems using.

And since I ported the game I also took the opportunity to add things like background moans, h-sound effects and other little gimmicks which I'll let you discover yourself.

Version changelog

V1.00: did my best to thoroughly play test it, but some bugs might've slipped by.

V1.01: fixed a CG Gallery bug, where Mikan's and Momoko's events would unlock event images for Kaoruko.

V1.02: fixed a file not found exception during Ringo's first H-Scene if her breasts size is set to Big.

    1. Yes, it's made in Ren'Py 8.1.1 and this version has unfortunately dropped support for 32-bit systems.

    3. Sorry for the late reply, was away from home these last days... umm, well I haven't prepared a patch for the original game if that is what you ask.

      And I'm afraid I won't have much time to get one ready, but I am willing to share the translated text if anyone is willing to make the patch themselves, get in contact with me at: lemontamago243@gmail.com and I can send the text for each script file as it appears in EAGLS, I kept the script structure similar for the port too.

      Keep in mind I have only built the game and have not tested it, don't have an android device to do that with, so fingers crossed it actually works lol.

    3. I'm afraid they don't, those are just patches that replace gui elements and scripts of the source game with English text.

  4. I'm getting an exception at the first H-scene with Ringo and where the moneyshot cg cant be found here's what the error gave me:

    I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

    While loading :
    OSError: Couldn't find file 'images/event/ari01r1n.png'.

    Do you know how I can fix?

    1. Yup, it's still in the works(kind of), might release another game before fully comiting to working just on nyuu dokyuusei.

      Squeeze game are not only long 30k+ lines but also very complex, so doing the same "port to Ren'Py" treatment requires insane amounts of work, plus I want to do some stuff with it which the original didn't have to hopefully make it even more enjoyable to play.

      We'll see how things go, hopefully I'll release it one day. It's what I'm planning to anyway.

  6. I'm hoping one day the gods will bless us with a Honoo no Haramase Oppai ★ Ero Appli Gakuen and Cha~nge! ~Ano Ko ni Natte Kunkun Peropero~ translation. half joking aside what does SQEEZE use for game engine? I've seen EAGLS being mentioned by VNDB and is it particularly hard to work with?

    1. Haha, I see you're a man of exquisite culture. Oh man, what I would do to play those games officially translated and maybe even uncensored, there are so many good titles made by SQUEEZ, May-Be Soft and all the other TechArts studios that will unfortunately be forever lost to never getting translated, but what can I say, I hope and pray too that one day, the gods will indeed bless us with these titles brother.

      As for the engine, it's EAGLS alright. The engine itself is not hard to work with but is annoying because of a couple of reasons. For example, it's not very friendly with displaying English text as it interprets the single quote as a special character and will crash if encountered during in-game text.

      Another thing which is more of a problem that comes from Japanese itself is the lack of word spacing, which has to be treated separately for English, when I did 'Oppai no Ouja 48' I made a tool that would format the text by inserting white spaces when a word would reach the end of line limit, and then there's the godawful Japanese locale that all freaking Japanese games are made with, don't even get me started on the amount of people that aren't familiar with using a locale emulator.

      Porting the game to Ren'Py fixes most of these problems but introduces the difficulty of having to reverse engineer the EAGLS scripts and convert them to Ren'Py scripts, on the plus side, I can have fun and add stuff which the originals didn't have so I think at least from these points of view, the effort is worth it.

    1. I know it'll sound heresy saying this, but I could never quite get into AK Bare Bunny's VNs, as good as I know the collective opinion on them is, there's just something about choco-chip's art that I can't enjoy I guess.

      For me, HonkyTonk games were always superior, at least the ones made between 'Ijira Rental' and 'Kajuu 100%', which is why I had the motivation to go through Shabura Rental(which is one of my favorites of the bunch) in the first place. I don't think I'll be able to translate a 50k+ words game by myself ever again.
